COACH OF THE YEAR
How and what are the department of futsal nsw looking to award this ? What infact are they looking for when they give this award?
Many people might infact have many different views,
but what is an actual duty of the coach? How has the coach actually proven his success ? The knowledge of the coach that has been passed on to players? In my eyes, a successful coach is that of who develops a player more than what that player was at the beginning, a successful coach teaches the players the right way of futsal ,and a successful coach is that who progress the team and builds as a team not only an individual. Coach of the year in my eyes, should be given to that of a coach who has not had the best team, but that who has done wonders with a particular team, i was browsing through the net, and searched all results from all age groups from round 7 to the current table.
It is surprising at what teams have made a huge jump and that of the teams that have come to a stalemate. There is probably 7 teams from various clubs and ages that i think these coaches should all get recognized as coaches of the year,

we will start in
the mens category.
(all are from round seven position to current)
Sydney city were positioned 7 and with 8 points, they have had a turn around and are now 4th and currently with 20 points, some would say they should never of started that badly but has shown true character from a team that was in the grand final last year.
Quake 5th and on 11 points are now equal 1st and on 29 points, From an experienced team as this no way should ever of been sitting 5th, but with an unbeaten run and the only team to of won 6-6 in all ages definitely shows something has sprung them into life and looks dangerous once again comes finals, SO either a great coach or a great wake up from all the lads.

WOMENS
Magic were 5th and on 11 points have now jumped into 2nd spot and is on 28 points, with only a draw in the second half the coach has got the best out of this team? Or is it the fact that the late signings is now coming into play and just shows how good the players are not the coach?

16 girls
Commodores were 6th and on 7 points, have now moved into 4th and on 21 points, but again a team expected to shine highly at the start of the season started slowly but has gotten a great boost and are just only a win away form semis, although there are teams breathing right down their throats.

16boys Quake 5th and were on 11 points and now 5th again and on 19 points, doesn't show that much of a jump, but the results from the start of the season and getting beaten comfortably to now giving good battles shows how much this team has just come through the year, a great job done by the coaching staff, but will it be enough consistency in the second round to pinch a finals birth?
Also in the age group is inner west all stars they were 6th and on 11 points have only suffered one defeat in the second round and are in fourth spot and on 22 points, this has been a great turn around and puts them in the drivers seat for the final four, so again i believe the coach or inspiration has done an almighty job, however, these players and team were expected to shine but come good when it counted.

finally 14 boys
Magic were 5th and on 9 points are now 3rd and on 23 points
with a team not so hot compared to last year started slowly have now secured third spot and looks pretty strong, with just some close results with the teams ahead of them in the second round this coach should be proud of his efforts and the boys will survive another week on after the comp for finals futsal.

This is just as what i think a coach has done, yeah there might be some superstars in every team, or there might be some great coaches, but which of them all come out and get results.

I didn't mention quake youth, mascot womens or commodores 13s, as i remember looking up on the net, at the beginning of the competition, and I have found that those teams were favorites to win and were expected to do good. Although you need a good coach to maintain that level, I feel coach of the year is some 1 who has done wonders with the teams and have gone from strength to strength.

Now how is this actually awarded?
Is there any form guide to how it should be picked?

IF any of these 7 coaches got the award, i wouldn't complain as I know that teams struggled and then they have risen and come to there potential.
BUT each to their own and just giving my own thoughts.
THANKS
SKITZ ;D

dh form quake youth has proven him self over and over, and again at nationals with a new group of kids, although he had great players as every year, he just seems to get the best out of all kids.
MY VOTE :)

"who/how are the points accrued each week, are they given out by coaches or referees"

1 point is awarded by the opposing coach to the player she/he deems the best in the opposition team.

The count ends at the end of the H&A rounds

the coach of the year nomination form has been sent out.
vote 3 coaches in order of 3 pts,2pts and 1pt.
and you cant vote for anyone from own club.
Will be interesting to see who gets it as harder for biased vote this year.
opinions on who should get votes anyone?

Two nominations for coach of the year. JA from sydney magic (national and minor premier mens) and Dave Saliba for qualifying both of his 16's, youth teams in the finals and national youth champions. Great effort by both. Would be hard to top their acheivemnets this year.

Does it go by acheivements this year?
I think this is where the debate comes .
eg. Last year TM from wr women, they won everything, would he have deserved it? He had a gun side and basically just watched his women play.
I think the 2 u nominated are good examples of success, id lean more towards DS, his yth side (last year winners of 16b) were never expected to be up there with the very young side of 16/17 year olds, But his 16's are full of talent so i wouldn't vote for his success with them.
If i had to choose 1 from each club, from magic i'd pick 14s coach, a team of non superstars, his team challenged every opponment they competed against.
Eagles DS, Quake maybe DH but winning games with 10 on the bench isnt that challenging, he winning games with fitness as his boys dont get chance to get tired and lose concentration.
Mascot Svee without a doubt, apart from coaching womens, his general knowledge of the game is great.
Iwas Av has done well with his 16 boys, Commodores (none come to mind)
Crusaders without a doubt id choose erkin, his knowlegde and ability to turn games around is great.
and western Raiders, well i'd say sam seeing he the only team to have had most success this season, if i was to go by success.

I do think coaches should be picked by the quality of their team.

Your Club Person Of The Year Award was an awesome thought.

We will definitely look to do the same next year.

im guessing he means youth, first one that came to mind, but its just a guess.
the table on fnsw only shows up to round 3, but the team that keeper of the year played for in round 3 were coming last with 5 goals for and 12 against. Can't be the best keeper going by that result.

Dark Raider

I was thinking men's keeper should have gone to Spathis. Taking nothing away from your keeper, I would say PA stood out week in week out in a not so strong side polling points, where as Spathis is in a good side, so it would make him hard to poll points.

That said, congratulations PA, you would have worked your arse off.

Well done
