Quake v IWAS

results (most) were close but IWAS a little too strong.

12b - IWAS 3-1
12G - IWAS 5-3
14B - IWAS 9-0 (only blow out)
14G - IWAS 2-1
16B - Quake 6-4 (hooray!)
16G - Quake 2-0
Yth - IWAS 4-3 this was a cracker with IWAS scoring winner in last 15 secs
Women - IWAS 4-3 after leading 3-nil. Quake missed a pen.
Men - IWAS 5-3 after leading 3-nil. good game!

Back to the drawing board for the puple and orange!!

way things are looking, it depends on who's lucky day it is...not taking anything away from all stars but i never expected them to steal that many points from quake, and never expected the only 2 games that quake wins are the 2 games everyone probably predicted all stars to win.
Unfortunatly we are next with quake so we will probably cop a thrashing ...lol (thanks allstrs lol)

i hear allstars won everything today except 12 boys.
with 2 strong clubs merging, leaves no chance for other clubs, good luck to them i say.
perhaps if quake and eagles merged, they can enter their own comp in the premier premier league and just play each other...then the battle of the titans will really be contested.

the people who run both sydney city and quake are too loyal and passionate about their clubs to merge, it would never happen.

They are pretty much three clubs not two...
Not that it really matters.. lol
But does club championship really mean that much? As long as ur placed 1st through to 7th on the championship ladder there is nothing to worry about..
But if your 1st and you can't get over the final hurdle.. That being a grand final..... Personal i think you have more to lose!
Like previous club championship winners havnt had much to boast about come grand final day... AHA magic.. Except i'll give it to their winning mens team.. Spath you are a freak! :)

"But does club championship really mean that much?" - It depends. It matters if you win it. If you come 2nd you say it doesn't ;)

By the way, Magic contested four GF's last year and won two.

why not ask sydney city eagles which one hurt more, losing club championships by x points or losing the 2 grand finals?

I know he would prefer all his teams make finals than club champs, i know the answer as i heard it come from the man's mouth myself from the beginning of last season till the end.

what makes you say sydney city and quake are more passionate and loyal than other clubs? who would have thought last year all stars would give up their loyalty and abandon own players and allow magic to take over their club?

Darkraider are you serious?? My boy was cut from Allstars this year but I have to say that the trials were professionally done and from what I saw the kids that got selected deserved it. If they abandoned anyone is was because they were'nt up to it. :-X

oh i see, so if you didnt come from sydney magic, then you got cut, even if you were from allstars?
just curious though, how many original allstars players in the women squad?
I guess all the all stars women went to trials and got cut cause the sydney magic womens team were better....ok i understand now.

I know at least 3 players that were from Sydney Magic that got cut and I am sure there were more. I also know many original players from Allstars that were selected across most age groups. So if one team selection is not to your satisfaction then you accuse the club of being disloyal and abandoning their players. There are 8 other teams for god sake.

Magic did not take over Allstars. With the demise of Magic, some players and officials came over to Allstars. Some also went to Eagles, Benfica, Commodores, Quake and others.

The former Magic players and officials have been welcomed at Allstars and I have nothing but praise for the club.

With the influx of players it was clear that not everyone could be accommodated and sadly some former Allstar and Magic players had to find other teams.

If you look at the individual teams at Allstars some are dominated by last years Allstar players, some by the former Magic players, while others are an integrated set. It really depends on where the strength was last year. The Youth team is virtually all Allstars from last year, because they were the champs. The U16 Boys is virtually all from Magic, because they were the champs.

What I read in this thread is either:

1) The club championship is unimportant and not valued by some clubs (what a load of rubbish)

or

2) Allstars have somehow acted immorally in accepting players from a defunct club

The real truth is the Tall Poppy Syndrome is alive and well.

berry: its somewhere where u will never see it ;)

futsal dad: i dont think that it was said that the CC means nothing, but in this country as everyone knows its all about winning grand finals...all those stars magic worked so hard for are now gone. could you please tell me how many players went by there own accord from magic/allstars too commodores, benfica, quake and others? im aware that senior mens and womens players went to sydney city only because allstars couldnt accomodate them...

you also said that 16s are predominatly magic as they were champs, and youth are allstars as they were champs, how come the mens team isnt from magic? i believe they won the grand final and minor premiership..must have been a fluke.

and to add to this, in previous years hearing how much hatred there was between sydney magic officals towards inner west, and vice-versa, plus the dramas between the two clubs, its hard to believe they are all best friends now but everyone must have there price.

well said runamuck, you took the words out of my mouth and wrote it down better than i could have attempted.
@ futsaldad, you say sydney magic became a defunct club?
that is hilarious, how about writting magic officials purposesly failed to put application in to rejoin the premier league but had already signed elsewhere leaving players NO CHOICE but to move on.

from what i heard and i am 99% sure, the mens magic team didn't even consider going to allstars. only a handful of there players were asked to go, whilst the others didn't even get a phone call from the magic officials that went over to allstars to inform them of what was happening. do you call this loyalty or take what you want and leave the rest to do there own thing. it seems at least the players stayed loyal to themselves and moved on together bar 2 players, one who was asked even though his brother had moved to allstars on the committee and one who wanted more game time so went to benfica. the one who is at allstars with his brother accepted to play at the eagles then changed his mind. i am pretty sure this is what happened, loyalty shone thru by the looks of things and the players remained as a team.

I'm not having a go at you futsaldad, but simply putting a fact on the table.. What about the 07/08 season... When Magic won CC again and only had 1 team in the finals, and you had a club like Liverpool Fusion that was getting relegated at the conclusion of that season and they had two teams in the finals... I know people will now say "waa waa waa finals are different... Anything can happen.." Which is by far correct! And im not taking anything away from Magics achievments.. Well done to them... But like runamuck said, all the hard work has gone to dust now..

Merging would just wreck the sport! Perhaps merg to small clubs if anything, but not two kinda strong clubs.. Otherwise it's just like the case of society.. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer!! How friggen stupid! Thought you people would want the sport to grow not suffer...

fruitloopy- 3rd club isnt really a club, haha but just younger female players and officials from commodores.. its enough wen it has an impact on the club they were previously at tho...

anddddd

your other post about sydney city and CC and grand finals... i don't know what one would hurt more... I do know that if a was running a club or coaching, i would much prefer to see my younger players (12/14/16's) develop as futsal players and see them united as a team... and to witness them improving then hold up a trophy at the end of the year... the sport has to grow.. which means the players need to be developed.. and those younger age groups is where it needs to happen, not that winning is the only option so that means u throw the ball to the other end and flick it on with a header or something.. what good is it teaching kids that..?

i think youth, mens and womens is a bit more about finals tho and most coaches would rather see a trophy at the end of the season as most players should be fairly developed..

i do agree in the fact that it would be much more beneficial seeing younger sides learnt o play futsal, and not worry so much about the result. as long as they develo their skills, as well as learn how to play futsal properly it will make for better competitions not only now, but in the future.

and i also agree that there is too much long ball in futsal, as it may work in under 12s/14s when a side has a big target but it doesnt work when you get too youth and open age groups, the teams who rely on this tactic struggle when they get older, whereas the younger teams who have tried to apply futsal tactics and stick with it will become successful at an older age.

I wouldn't say they are invincible.. But it is hard for a club to walk away from the weekend with a fair share of CC points.. Each club will have a team or two or three that will be competative with them but overall over all it's quite an effort to even share the points on the day.. Maybe the tides will change after State Titles, you never know what could happen with injuries etc.. It's a tough tournament and it's hard to escape the weekend without some kind of niggle for most players! :)

Eagles vs IWAS

12 Boys 4-4 Draw
12 Girls IWAS
14 Boys IWAS
14 Girls IWAS
16 Boys IWAS 9-2
16 Girls IWAS
Youth 2-2 Draw
Women Eagles 3-1
Men Eagles 2-0

Some cracking games yesterday, especially the U12 Boys, Youth and Mens.

Anyone else have results from other matches in Round #6?
